More Electricity Exported from Armenia to Georgia in 2022 than in the Previous 10 Years: Prime Minister

Last year, more electricity was exported from Armenia to Georgia than in the previous 10 years combined. This was stated today by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during a Q&A session in the National Assembly.

“In 2019, the Prime Minister of Georgia visited Armenia, and during the briefing that followed our meeting, we announced that we set a goal to increase trade turnover to 1 billion dollars over the next few years. Now we have either approached that goal or exceeded it. Currently, we are more focused on the growth of the 2023 indicators. We have established very warm political, economic, and human relations. We must ensure that these relationships become institutionalized in a strategic sense,” said Pashinyan.

Continuing on the theme of Armenian-Georgian relations, Pashinyan mentioned that discussions are underway regarding improving the quality of teaching of the Georgian language in Armenia and the Armenian language in Georgia.

The Prime Minister also recalled that the Government has approved the proposal to sign an agreement on mutual visa-free travel for citizens of Armenia and Georgia.
