Why is Turkey not lifting a finger for the 120,000 Armenians under blockade in Nagorno-Karabakh? Paylan to Cavusoglu

Karabakh Armenian MP Garo Paylan, representing Turkey's opposition People’s Democratic Party (HDP), has raised the issue of the blockade of the Lachin corridor in the Turkish Grand National Assembly. The Armenian MP submitted a written inquiry addressed to Turkey's Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu in the Parliament. This was reported by Ermenihaber.

The correspondence noted that the Lachin corridor has been kept closed for over a month by a group of Azerbaijanis presenting themselves as "environmental activists" along with Azerbaijani security forces. It emphasized that, due to the blockade of the Lachin corridor, the crisis in obtaining essential supplies such as food and medicine is worsening daily in Nagorno-Karabakh. It was highlighted that, due to disruptions in natural gas and electricity supplies, 120,000 Armenians in Nagorno-Karabakh are facing a humanitarian crisis during severe winter conditions.

In this context, Paylan posed several questions to Cavusoglu:

1. What are you doing to address the deepening humanitarian crisis in Nagorno-Karabakh?
2. What diplomatic initiatives have you undertaken for the opening of the Lachin corridor, which connects Nagorno-Karabakh to Armenia?
3. Do you realize that the blockade of the Lachin corridor closes the window of opportunity for peace in the region?
4. Why is Turkey, which boasts of its involvement in many humanitarian issues around the world, not lifting a finger for the 120,000 Armenians under blockade in Nagorno-Karabakh?
