People Injured Due to the Use of Pyrotechnics in Georgia
In Georgia, the use of pyrotechnics has resulted in injuries to individuals. According to Guga Kashibadze, the head of the Tbilisi Burn Center, the number of those injured from the use of pyrotechnics has reached 25. This information was reported by the Georgian service of Sputnik.
Fortunately, the doctor indicated that there have been no serious cases among the victims. Kashibadze once again warns the public and emphasizes the importance of exercising caution when using pyrotechnics. “I want to warn the public that this is not a toy, and it is not something to have fun with. Even if you strictly follow the guidelines, the use of pyrotechnics is very dangerous. The smallest mistake can result in quite serious injuries,” Kashibadze stated during a broadcast on Rustavi 2 television.
Firecrackers and other types of pyrotechnics are an integral part of the New Year's celebrations in Georgia. However, their use frequently leads to injuries and burns. During the New Year period, the number of people visiting medical facilities often increases.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia's Emergency Management Agency has repeatedly urged residents of the republic to be cautious and advises against using pyrotechnics in crowded places and enclosed spaces. The sale of pyrotechnics to minors has been banned in Georgia since 2019.
Moreover, this year, Georgia purchased 712 tons of fireworks, Bengal lights, and other pyrotechnics worth $5.5 million. This amount is a record high for all years.
