VIDEO. Why are the walls of the National Assembly being raised with bars? The National Assembly comments
Journalist Ani Nahapetyan has shared a video on her Facebook page with the caption: "The walls of the National Assembly are increasingly resembling prison walls...".
Auroranews.am has contacted the press service of the National Assembly to understand what works are being carried out and what is the reason for the raising of the walls with bars.
They responded that since the territory of the Parliament is considered an area controlled by the National Security Service, all security matters are determined by the NSS, including the raising of the walls.
"This is being done for security purposes, as the walls of the National Assembly have a height of 1.5 meters. The NSS has repeatedly warned that the walls are low and need to be raised," the press service stated.
They also noted that it is very easy to access the National Assembly territory from nearby residential properties and vice versa. Stray animals also freely enter the area.
