Former Pakistani Prime Minister Injured in Assassination Attempt

Former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan has been injured in both legs following an attack during a protest march organized by his party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf. The hospital administration where the politician was admitted reported the injuries.

According to Geo TV, the statement mentioned that "the bullet hit the right leg and the bone of the left leg." Doctors indicated that Khan was unconscious when he was brought to the hospital, suffering from 16 injury marks on his legs.

The assassination attempt on Imran Khan took place on November 4 during a protest march demanding new elections. The former prime minister was shot after his vehicle came under fire, but his life is not in danger.

A detained suspect has claimed responsibility for planning to kill Imran Khan, asserting that he acted alone.

The march organized by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf demanding new elections began last week, with protesters planning to reach the capital Islamabad by November 11.

Earlier, the Pakistani government petitioned the country's Supreme Court to stop the new march by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, but the court rejected the request for a prohibition order against the march.

Prior to filing the court appeal, government representatives warned that authorities would crack down on those participating in the protest. In turn, the Islamabad administration announced that it would not allow Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf to hold gatherings in the city and has increased security in the "Red Zone" of Islamabad, where the main government buildings are located, as reported by RIA Novosti.
