Poland to Build Fence Along Border with Russia
Poland's Minister of Defense Mariusz Błaszczak has ordered the construction of a temporary barrier along the border with Kaliningrad, as reported by AP.
This move is linked to Warsaw's suspicions that Russia plans to facilitate the illegal crossing of migrants from Asia and Africa.
Błaszczak stated that the border needs to be secured for Poland to feel safe. He announced the authorization for a temporary barrier to be built along 210 kilometers of the border. Construction work is set to begin on Wednesday.
Last year, Poland's border with Belarus was the site of a serious migration crisis, with a significant number of individuals illegally crossing the border. Poland has already built a steel wall along its border with Belarus.
