Are We Officially at War with Azerbaijan? Simonian on Ter-Petrosyan's Statement
The Speaker of the Armenian National Assembly, Alen Simonian, stated in a conversation with journalists that he is unaware of what capitulatory agreement Armenia's first President, Levon Ter-Petrosyan, was referring to.
"I don't understand what capitulation he is talking about and why Mr. Ter-Petrosyan is using that term. Let him explain why, in the early 90s, when he was a victorious president, he did not sign that capitulation and did not grant independence to Artsakh and recognize it. What capitulation are we discussing? Are we officially at war with Azerbaijan? We are talking about a peace agreement," said Simonian.
According to Simonian, there is currently no specific document on the matter, and these are mere assumptions. He added that if Ter-Petrosyan is aware of some document, he should share it so that others can be informed as well.
It is noteworthy that in an interview with Public Television, the first president of Armenia stated that the upcoming document would be a capitulation agreement, and given Armenia's current situation, one must find the less painful solutions out of all the bad ones.
