Mirzoyan Meets EU Special Representative Toivo Klaar in Geneva
On October 2, during a working visit to Geneva, Armenia's Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan met with the European Union's Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the Crisis in Georgia, Toivo Klaar.
Mirzoyan emphasized the urgent need to eliminate the consequences of Azerbaijan's recent aggression against the Republic of Armenia, including the withdrawal of Azerbaijani armed forces from Armenia's sovereign territory and the immediate release of Armenian prisoners of war illegally held in Azerbaijan. He stressed the imperative of maintaining a ceasefire regime.
The Minister strongly condemned the gross violations of international law by Azerbaijani armed forces and the war crimes committed, particularly the deliberate targeting of civilian populations and infrastructure, inhumane torture of Armenian prisoners of war, and extrajudicial killings. He highlighted that those responsible must be held accountable, including through the imposition of sanctions.
During the meeting, discussions also covered issues related to the relationship between Armenia and Azerbaijan and the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
