Opening of Iran's Consulate General is an Important and Symbolic Step, Says Mirzoyan
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, Ararat Mirzoyan, on September 30, received the newly appointed Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Kapan, Morteza Abedini Varamini, accompanied by the Ambassador of Iran to Armenia, Abbas Badakhshan Zohouri.
As reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, the Iranian Consul General in Kapan presented his consular credentials to Ararat Mirzoyan. Subsequently, the Armenian Foreign Minister handed over the exequatur to Morteza Abedini Varamini.
“The parties expressed satisfaction with the recent intensification of high-level Armenian-Iranian contacts,” stated Mirzoyan, emphasizing that the opening of the Iranian Consulate General is an important and symbolic step that demonstrates the commitment of Armenia and Iran to deepen cooperation and elevate it to a new qualitative level. There is confidence that the Consulate General will contribute to more effectively utilizing the potential in trade, economic, transportation, energy, and educational-cultural spheres in the Syunik province,” the statement read.
During the meeting, the sides addressed issues related to regional stability and security.
The Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that Ararat Mirzoyan expressed high regard for Iran’s decisive and clear positions on regional issues.
