I Don't See a Possibility for a Peace Treaty with Azerbaijan: Akhazzaryan
When the government pushes forward a peace agenda, while the opposition, with its vast resources, comes out against it and seeks to remove the authorities but does not receive the necessary support, it proves that society is united around the ruling party's agenda. This was stated by the Deputy of the National Assembly from the 'Civil Contract' faction, Hovik Akhazzaryan, in an interview with NEWS.am.
“How can there be unity? How can everyone have the same view and opinion on a particular issue? That is excluded. Unity arises from the diversity of those opinions that are acceptable to the overwhelming majority. Many dislike my political approach, and many see numerous mistakes in our team's actions, but nonetheless, the vast majority of people stand alongside the line we are implementing,” he stated.
Akhazzaryan declared that he personally does not see a possibility for signing a peace treaty. “Because the first point of that treaty should be that the parties recognize each other's territorial integrity. Azerbaijan has entered our sovereign territory; if this issue is not resolved, how can we sign a peace treaty?”
