Forces Must Return to Initial Positions: The UK's Stance on Azerbaijani Aggression
“The government of the United Kingdom, including during our mediation at the OSCE in Vienna, has clearly indicated that armed forces should withdraw to the positions they occupied before military operations began. The only way to resolve the conflict is through diplomacy,” stated the UK embassy in Armenia in response to inquiries from News regarding the recent aggression by Azerbaijan.
“We have always condemned the targeting of civilian areas in all conflicts. Our thoughts are with the families of those killed or injured in the recent violence. The government of the United Kingdom welcomes the return of prisoners of war and the remains of the deceased. We call on the parties to discuss the return of all remaining prisoners of war and remains of the deceased. Reports of torture are extremely concerning and require thorough investigation by the relevant authorities,” the UK embassy's statement in Yerevan continued.
