Wrestling World Championship: Arthur Aleksanyan Advances to Round of 16
At the Wrestling World Championship taking place in Belgrade, Olympic champion and multiple world and European champion Arthur Aleksanyan, competing in the 97 kg weight category, has advanced to the Round of 16. Aleksanyan's first opponent, Aaron Mboue from Congo, withdrew from the match.
In the Round of 16, Aleksanyan will face the winner of the match between Igor Fernando Alves de Kieros (Brazil) and Metahan Basar (Turkey).
Today, 67 kg athlete Slavik Galstyan and M23 European Champion and M23 World Championship medalist Hrachya Poghosyan (63 kg), as well as European Championship medalist and European Games silver medalist Karapet Chalyan (82 kg), will also compete on the mat. Poghosyan will start his fight from the Round of 32, where he will face Japan's Ryuto Ikeda. Slavik Galstyan will also begin in the Round of 32 against Pavriz Nasibov from Ukraine. Karapet Chalyan will enter the competition starting from the Round of 32 against Croatia’s Filip Sachich.
