Wrestling World Championship: Arthur Aleksanyan Advances to Semifinals

At the World Wrestling Championship underway in Belgrade, Olympic champion and multiple world and European champion Arthur Aleksanyan, competing in the 97 kg weight class, has advanced to the semifinals.

In the quarterfinals, Aleksanyan achieved a decisive 9-0 victory over his Kyrgyz opponent. It is worth noting that in the quarterfinals, the Olympic champion defeated the two-time world champion, Turkish wrestler Metehan Basar.

Aleksanyan's first opponent had declined to compete.

In other matches, European Championship medalist and European Games silver medalist Karapet Chalyan, competing in the 82 kg weight class, won against Croatian wrestler Filip Sachic in the 1/16 finals. Furthermore, Hratchya Poghosyan, competing in the 63 kg weight class, secured a 5-2 victory over a Japanese opponent in the 1/16 finals. However, Slavik Galstyan, in the 67 kg weight class, lost 7-7 to Olympic silver medalist Parviz Nasibov.
