Zelensky Warns Airlines of Drones in Russian Skies

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, has warned airlines and insurance companies using Russian airspace that drones will be present in the skies over Russia, and in significant numbers. His statement primarily concerns companies utilizing key airports in Russia.

“Today we want to alert every airline that uses Russian airspace, every insurance company, and all those who still operate at Russia’s major airports: the Russian sky is becoming completely dangerous,” Zelensky announced.

At the same time, the Ukrainian President emphasized that Kyiv does not threaten civil aviation or commercial aircraft. “There simply will be drones in the skies over Russia, and this must be known. We do not want to lose innocent lives in Ukraine. That is why we are warning our partners: the safe times in the Russian skies are over,” he stated.

Zelensky noted that this message should be heard by foreign diplomats working in both Ukraine and Russia, as well as by airlines that continue to operate flights to Moscow, St. Petersburg, and other major destinations in Russia. “The place of civil aviation is not alongside drones,” the President of Ukraine concluded.
