Hamesh Afrikyan Wins Gold in Turkey at European Championships
Hamesh Afrikyan has won a gold medal for the Armenian team at the ongoing European Youth Boxing Championships in Turkey. Competing in the 42 kg weight category, he faced Serina Mali representing England.
In the first round, Afrikyan won with a score of 4:1, while the second round saw the judges awarding the advantage to the English boxer with the same score. The decisive round turned out to be quite frantic, with the opponent being taller and constantly showcasing activity. However, the judges determined that the Armenian boxer's punches were more accurate, and victory was awarded to Hamesh Afrikyan, as reported by the press service of the Armenian Boxing Federation.
Armenia will also have a finalist in the men's 66 kg weight class, with Samvel Siramargyan set to enter the ring.
