As Long as Armenia Keeps Its Word... Statement from Turkey
On July 25, a meeting of the Central Executive Board of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) took place in Turkey, during which party spokesman Omer Celik held a press conference addressing Armenia and the Armenian-Turkish reconciliation process, as reported by Ermenihaber.
"As long as Armenia keeps its word, conducting negotiations is crucial as it will contribute to peace in the region," stated Celik, reiterating that the process operates with the consent and coordination of Turkey and Azerbaijan.
Celik recalled the previous failed attempts at Armenian-Turkish relations, emphasizing that this time the environment for reconciliation is more favorable. According to the AKP spokesman, certain countries previously hindered the Armenian-Turkish reconciliation process to keep Armenia and the Armenian diaspora under control.
Recalling the agreements reached between the special representatives of Turkey and Armenia on July 1 of this year, Celik mentioned that there are also questions that have been agreed upon for discussion. He stated that reaching an agreement on these issues would contribute to the advancement of the process.
