Germany May Face Energy Security Issues, Says Chancellor

Germany's Chancellor Olaf Scholz has welcomed the decision of the Canadian authorities to transfer a gas turbine for the "Nord Stream" pipeline. "We appreciate the decision of our Canadian friends and allies," Scholz is quoted by Welt.

In mid-June, Gazprom announced that it could supply only 67 million cubic meters of gas per day to the "Nord Stream," instead of the planned 167 million cubic meters.

The issue of ensuring Germany's energy resources will remain on the agenda for a long time, Chancellor Olaf Scholz stated. According to him, the authorities are trying to prepare as much as possible for a potential deficit. This includes the construction of liquid natural gas pipelines and terminals, as well as the launch of renewable energy sources.

At the same time, Scholz specified that such measures will be necessary after the upcoming winter.
