British Deputy Ambassador, Austrian Attaché's Husband, and Polish Professor Arrested in Iran
Several foreigners, including the British Deputy Ambassador to Tehran, have been arrested in Iran for alleged espionage, according to state television on July 6. It is reported that the suspects were collecting soil samples from prohibited areas.
"These spies were taking soil samples from the central desert of Iran, where the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps was conducting missile and space exercises," state television reported.
The report stated that one of the detained individuals is the husband of Austria's attaché in Iran. A photograph of a third foreign national, Polish professor Maciej Walczak, who was reportedly visiting Iran as a tourist, has also been showcased.
