Nikol Pashinyan's Friend Appointed Director in Violation of the Law: "Hraparak"

"Hraparak" newspaper reports: "We had written that Nikol Pashinyan's childhood friend, Sarmen Amiryan, has been appointed the director of the Ijevan Sports School. He worked as a physical education teacher at the Spartak Sargsyan Primary School No. 1 in Ijevan. This is the school where Nikol Pashinyan studied.

We were informed that Amiryan does not have higher education; in the mid-2000s, he graduated from some technical school, and that too at the behest of the mother of the current police chief Vahe Ghazaryan, who was the director of Ijevan School No. 1 at that time.

For about ten days, we tried to officially clarify with the Ijevan City Hall whether Sarmen Amiryan has higher education or not, and if he does not, how he could be appointed as acting director. However, during those ten days, we did not receive any denying or confirming response, which suggests that the acting director indeed lacks education; otherwise, they could have answered our straightforward question about whether he has education, thus closing the matter by specifying which university Sarmen Amiryan graduated from.

Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Karen Giloyan mentioned in our conversation that he is unaware of who Sarmen Amiryan is and how he was appointed acting director of the sports school. He stated, "I have no information about this school; I did not appoint him."

When asked whether it is illegal to appoint someone without an education to the position of acting director, our interlocutor confirmed: "Yes, yes, both the director and the acting director must have higher education. Higher education is mandatory in their case; if a person does not have education, they should not be appointed as a director."
