Russia Lifts All Restrictions on Armenian Citizens Entering via Land Borders
The Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Mikhail Mishustin, during a meeting with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, stated that the Russian side prioritizes the unblocking of economic and transport links in the Caucasus region.
"Practical work is actively underway within the framework of the trilateral working group led by the Deputy Prime Ministers of Russia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan. The latest session was held during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum," emphasized the Russian Prime Minister.
For his part, Pashinyan expressed gratitude to the Russian side for resolving issues at the Upper Lars border crossing on the Russia-Georgia border, recalling that it is "the only land route that connects Armenia and Russia."
"We were quite concerned about this matter as there have been certain issues arising there due to the increase in economic flows related to the current economic situation. It is crucial what we have agreed upon, including with our Georgian partners, so that the trade between Armenia and Russia does not face artificial obstacles," said the Armenian Prime Minister.
He also supported the "unblocking of the entire region."
"I hope that as a result of the work already done, we will arrive at concrete solutions. The unblocking of transport and economic communications in the region carries particular importance in this situation," concluded Pashinyan. Mishustin also drew attention to the fact that Russia has lifted all restrictions on the entry of Armenian citizens via land borders, which, according to him, will promote the development of tourism and economic ties between the two countries.
