"We See Ourselves in Europe, in the European Union in 5-10 Years" - Georgian Prime Minister
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili announced during the Global Security Forum (GLOBSEC 2022) held in the capital of Slovakia, Bratislava, that the timeline for the country's membership in the European Union is 5-10 years, according to gazeta.ru.
"Georgia is a European country by nature, and we have an association agreement (with the European Union), which is our main plan. We clearly know what we need to do. Of course, we are implementing the reforms that we have committed to. We know how to carry out the transformation of our country and turn it into a true European state," said Garibashvili.
According to him, granting Georgia candidate status for EU membership would be an important symbolic step and a necessary impetus for the necessary reforms.
"Thus, we see ourselves in Europe, in the European Union in 5-10 years. 10 years is our dream and desire," Garibashvili concluded.
