Sweden Must Stop Supporting Terrorists, Erdoğan

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has held a phone conversation with Swedish Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson to discuss the relations between the two countries and Sweden's NATO membership application.

Erdoğan, who opposes Sweden's accession to NATO, specifically told Andersson that the country must "put an end to political and financial support for terrorist organizations and the provision of armaments." He noted that Turkey expects Sweden to take steps to address Turkish concerns regarding the Kurdish Workers' Party and its branches in Syria and Iraq.

Erdoğan also added that Turkey has so far supported NATO's open-door policy and considers solidarity within the alliance as one of the key values of the organization.
