Aliyev Decides on the Composition of the Azerbaijani Delegation in the Armenian-Azerbaijani Peace Agreement Commission

Baku has decided on the composition of the national commission for delimiting and demarcating the Armenian-Azerbaijani border and the delegation preparing the peace agreement between the two countries. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev announced this during a phone conversation with Charles Michel, President of the European Council, on Saturday, according to his press service.

"The country leader emphasized that following the results of the meeting held in Brussels, the Azerbaijani side has determined the composition of the national commission for delimiting and demarcating the Armenian-Azerbaijani border and the delegation preparing the peace agreement between the two countries, and informed the other side that it is ready for negotiations in the 'Baku-Yerevan' format," the statement said.

"Aliyev highlighted the importance of adopting the five principles presented by Azerbaijan as a basis for negotiating the peace agreement," the statement noted.

The press service of the Azerbaijani president reported that during the phone conversation, initiated by the European side, the tripartite meeting held in Brussels on April 6, with the initiative and participation of Michel, was mentioned, emphasizing the importance of achieving results based on agreed work.

"Aliyev thanked Michel for his support in resolving relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, including border delimitation and demarcation, the preparation of a peace agreement between the two countries, and the opening of transport and communication lines. For his part, Michel stated that he would continue to make efforts to normalize relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan and to ensure stable peace in the South Caucasus... During the negotiations, the parties exchanged ideas on the prospects for cooperation between Azerbaijan and the EU, as well as other issues of mutual interest," the statement concluded.
