«These circumstances are not entirely clear to us»: Lavrov on Parukh

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated during a press conference in Moscow with Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan that the circumstances surrounding the events in the village of Parukh in the Askeran region require clarification.

The minister noted that from the very beginning of the events, Russian soldiers announced that they were working on clarifying all circumstances. “These circumstances are not entirely clear to us. I would not like to jump ahead and make final judgments. We are confident that our Armenian friends fully trust the Russian peacekeepers,” he said.

Lavrov expressed hope that calls to hold peacekeepers accountable and conduct an official investigation do not reflect the sentiment of the Armenian people and leadership, stating that the troops play a significant role in maintaining stability. He acknowledged that minor incidents have occurred but added that the Russian side is investigating these cases.
