Armenian and French Foreign Ministers Discuss Peace Agreement with Azerbaijan
On March 18, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan had a phone conversation with French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian.
Mirzoyan and Le Drian exchanged views on issues related to the agenda of Armenian-French cooperation, specifically addressing the implementation of the roadmap for Armenian-French economic cooperation.
The counterparts discussed a number of issues related to regional and international security. Mirzoyan presented to his colleague the situation created as a result of provocations by Azerbaijan along the border with Armenia and ongoing violations of the ceasefire regime in Nagorno-Karabakh, including facts targeting the civilian population and exerting psychological pressure.
During the phone conversation, the parties discussed issues related to starting negotiations on a peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan based on the UN Charter, the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, and the Helsinki Final Act. In this context, the importance of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairmanship was emphasized by both sides.
