Moldovan President Calls on Russia to Withdraw Troops from Transnistria
Moldovan President Maia Sandu has stated that Russia plays a significant role in everything related to the Transnistrian conflict, since its inception, and as a result, Chișinău continues to insist on the withdrawal of Russian soldiers from Moldovan territory. This was reported by РИА Новости.
The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) adopted an amendment on Tuesday evening regarding the actions of the Russian Federation in Ukraine, acknowledging Transnistria as a 'zone of Russian occupation.'
Moldovan Parliamentary Vice Speaker Vlad Batrîncea said in a press briefing that PACE is attempting to drag Moldova into the conflict in Ukraine through this action.
The unrecognized Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic described the PACE's characterization of the 'occupied' Transnistria by Russia as unconstructive and contradictory to the principles of peaceful political resolution of relations between Tiraspol and Chișinău.
