“We are currently seeing in the headlines of media outlets that the history is repeating itself in terms of egg prices; in this case, we have a sharp illogical price drop,” Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated today during a government meeting.

“This concerns us, because, for instance, during the Easter period, egg prices reach astronomical levels. I know that the State Commission for the Protection of Economic Competition is monitoring the situation,” the Prime Minister noted.

“Mr. Gevorgyan, I also saw that you haven't recorded any cases of competition abuse. How are we going to manage the situation so that we don’t face the same problem during the Easter holidays and beyond? This year’s case had a particular nature because the price reduction occurred due to a small economic operator whose market share does not exceed five percent, and it has caused a chain reaction. This means that this economic operator operated in one supermarket where the price was lowered, and through delivery services, the price has also decreased elsewhere, thus triggering a chain reaction,” said Gegham Gevorgyan, Chairman of the State Commission for the Protection of Economic Competition, in response.
