Canada to Restrict Entry of Russian Vessels into Its Ports and Internal Waters
The Canadian authorities announced today that they are preparing to prohibit Russian vessels, including fishing boats, from entering Canadian ports and internal waters, reports Interfax.
“Today, Transport Minister Omar Alghabra, Foreign Affairs Minister Mélanie Joly, and Canada’s Minister of Fisheries, Oceans and the Coast Guard Joyce Murray announced the intention of the Canadian authorities to ban the entry of fishing vessels belonging to or registered in Russia into Canadian ports and internal waters,” states the Canadian government announcement.
The document notes that the decision will come into effect later this week.
