Abramovich No Longer Oversees Chelsea Football Club
Russian oligarch and Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has transferred control of the football club to the trustees of its charitable foundation. This was announced in a statement published on the club's website.
"I believe they are in the best position to look after the interests of the club, its players, staff, and fans," wrote the billionaire.
Earlier, The Independent reported that there were plans to strip billionaire Roman Abramovich of his ownership of Chelsea Football Club due to his connections with Russian authorities. This appeal was made to British Prime Minister Boris Johnson by Labour Party MP Chris Bryant.
