Large-Scale Nuclear Forces Exercises Scheduled in Russia

Russia has scheduled strategic deterrence forces exercises for February 19, which will include the launch of ballistic and cruise missiles. This announcement was made on February 18. Such exercises have not been conducted for over two years, according to BBC.

According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, the large-scale maneuvers will involve aerospace forces, strategic missile forces, the Northern and Black Sea fleets, as well as troops from the Southern Military District. The Ministry of Defense has stated that preparations for the exercises have been underway for some time.

The exercises will be personally overseen by Russian President Vladimir Putin. The drills will assess the readiness of military command bodies, combat units, and missile carriers.
