Yellow or Rusty Drinking Water: Aftermath of Earthquake in Alaverdi
In Alaverdi, the drinking water in multi-apartment buildings has appeared yellow or rusty today. This was reported by the "Ankyun+3" news agency.
"According to our sources, the earthquake on February 13 caused damage in water reservoirs (calm zones), which led to the contamination of drinking water. Citizens are advised to be cautious and not to use the water for drinking purposes or without boiling it until the mechanical pollution is eliminated," the media outlet writes.
Earlier, we reported that a rockfall occurred in one of the buildings in Alaverdi as a result of the earthquake.
It should be recalled that on February 13, at 22:25 local time (18:25 GMT), a 5.2 magnitude earthquake was registered by the seismic network of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Armenia at geographic coordinates of 41.19° north latitude and 43.97° east longitude, located 16 km northeast of the city of Bavra, at a depth of 10 km. The intensity of the underground tremors in the epicentral zone reached 6-7 points.
The earthquake was felt in the provinces of Shirak, Lori, and Aragatsotn with an intensity of 4-5 points, and in Yerevan at an intensity of 3 points.
