Large Fire Breaks Out on the Roof of Residential Building in Yerevan, Residents Evacuated
Today, on January 22, a large fire occurred in Yerevan. Around 21:45, the Emergency Situations Ministry's Rescue Service received a report through its 911 Crisis Management Center that a fire had broken out on the roof of a building on Nansen 1st Lane in the Nor-Nork administrative district.
According to shamshyan.com from the scene, patrol officers evacuated residents from the building with the help of firefighters and several citizens, allowing firefighters to work unhindered to first prevent the spread of fire that had originated on the roof of the fifth building, and then to extinguish it, which they successfully accomplished.
Witnesses gathered at the scene commented: “If the firefighters had been a bit late, the fire would have spread and the entire roof of the building would have turned to ash. The patrol officers did a great job, evacuating residents with the firefighters and several young men from the neighborhood, and to our knowledge, there were no injuries.”
The cause of the fire is currently being investigated. Firefighters have managed to isolate the fire, and they are conducting reconnaissance operations to identify hidden hotspots on the roof.
