Criminal Proceedings to Be Initiated Against Nikol Pashinyan for 'Whimpering Judges' Remarks
In July 2019, Nikol Pashinyan's scandalous remark regarding "whimpering judges" has not been forgotten and is occasionally recalled by various public figures. This is reported by "Factinfo." However, the reality is that, beyond political discussions, it has also led to certain legal processes.
Specifically, we learn from the "DataLex" judicial information system that in 2019, a complaint was submitted to the Anti-Corruption Committee by the liberal NGO "Civil Consciousness," requesting that Nikol Pashinyan be held accountable for violating ethical rules by making the aforementioned remark. The committee did not accept the complaint, and the same NGO challenged this action in court, asking to compel the Anti-Corruption Committee to initiate proceedings regarding this matter.
And now, nearly two years later, this legal dispute has reached its final resolution. It's worth noting that the first-instance court had ruled in favor of the "Civil Consciousness" claim on August 24, 2020. Subsequently, the Anti-Corruption Committee appealed the decision in the appellate court, which upheld the first-instance ruling on May 26, 2021. After that, the Anti-Corruption Committee filed a cassation appeal, but on September 15, 2021, the Court of Cassation rejected the committee's appeal, ultimately resolving this legal dispute.
As reported by "Factinfo," the Anti-Corruption Committee will now be obliged to initiate proceedings against Nikol Pashinyan for his "whimpering judges" remark and hold him accountable.
