Construction of New Road to Upper Lars Begins in Georgia
A new road leading to Upper Lars is under construction in Georgia, aiming to resolve traffic congestion issues.
Construction has begun on a new tunnel in the Kvesheti-Kobi section of the Military Highway of Georgia, intended to ensure uninterrupted transportation links.
The Kvesheti-Kobi bypass road is part of the Kobi-Gudauri section of the highway. In winter, the area is frequently at risk of avalanches, which can sometimes lead to road closures.
The project includes the construction of a 22.7-kilometer road, as well as six bridges and five tunnels. One of the tunnels, measuring 9 kilometers in length, is expected to be one of the longest and most complex engineering structures in Europe.
