Saakashvili to Return to Tbilisi on October 2
The former President of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili, who is currently the head of the Executive Committee of the National Council of Reforms in Ukraine, has announced that he will return to Tbilisi on October 2. This date coincides with local self-government elections in the country.
“Of course, as I said, I have booked a ticket for the evening of October 2 to be with you in Tbilisi, to defend your expression of will, and to participate in saving Georgia,” Saakashvili stated in a Facebook video message.
On September 6, Saakashvili declared his intention to return to his homeland ahead of the scheduled elections on October 2. According to the politician, even if the Georgian authorities imprison him, “the Georgian people will free” their former president.
