Film About Artsakh to be Presented at the Oscars

The Armenian National Cinema Academy has announced that the film "When the Wind Stops" directed by Nora Martirosyan has been selected as the submission for the "Best International Feature Film" category at the annual Oscars, following a closed vote held on September 27. This was reported on the Academy's Facebook page.

According to the National Cinema Center of Armenia, the film’s protagonist, Allen, a French airport auditor, arrives at the newly built airport in the Republic of Artsakh. The country, surrounded by self-proclaimed enemy states and with unstable borders, is attempting to stand up after the war for independence. Allen must determine whether this airport meets international standards for reopening.

During interviews with the airport staff, Allen gradually discovers a country that is not even indicated on some maps, yet it exists with its inhabitants, government, systems, and cultural landscape.

The cast includes Davit Hakobyan, Hayk Bakhryan, Arman Navasaradanyan, Gregoire Colin, Narine Grigoryan, and Vardan Petrosyan.
