The Killer of a Thief’s Son in Tbilisi May Have Been a Hired Assassin

The assailant responsible for the murder of 22-year-old Nika Kvaratskhelia, son of a notorious thief, is believed to be a hired assassin, according to Rustavi 2 TV. Sputnik Georgia reports on the incident.

Nika Kvaratskhelia died in the hospital on Thursday after sustained nine gunshot wounds. Reports suggest that the young man’s murder may be connected to his father, the criminal authority Gia Kvaratskhelia.

Gia Kvaratskhelia is suspected of involvement in the murder of another thief from 20 years ago. Two decades ago, criminal authority Davit Kakulia, known as “Dato Tbiliski,” was killed in Moscow in a car bombing.

Rustavi 2 has uncovered that investigators are working on the theory that Nika Kvaratskhelia’s murder was ordered from Russia by Kakulia's children. The primary evidence in the murder case consists of recordings from security cameras.

The footage shows the assassin, wearing a hood and mask, waiting for the victim near his car without taking precautions. Despite the crowded location, the perpetrator exhibited little caution.
