When Will Pashinyan Resign? He Specified Deadlines
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced that he plans to resign in the last week of April so that early parliamentary elections can take place on June 20. Pashinyan made this statement during a Q&A session with the government in the National Assembly while responding to independent MP Arman Babajanyan's question.
“I am preparing to resign in the last week of April, after which, to ensure proper procedures, the elections for Prime Minister will take place on the 7th day. I will be nominated for Prime Minister by the ‘My Step’ faction, because the constitutional regulations necessitate a candidate for Prime Minister. Other factions will not nominate a candidate for Prime Minister; the ‘My Step’ faction will not elect me as Prime Minister. For the second time, I will be nominated for Prime Minister by 1/3 of the faction, and again, no other candidate will be nominated, and once again, the Prime Minister will not be elected. The National Assembly will be legally considered dissolved, after which early elections will be scheduled for June 20,” the Prime Minister stated.
Pashinyan pointed out that those who attempt to deviate from the political agreements made before the people will be committing political suicide. “The ‘My Step’ faction will elect me as Prime Minister, and that will close the topic,” he said.
