Onik Gasparyan Resigned in November, Did Not Get Accepted, Now Demand Is Made - Tovmasyan
In late November, Chief of General Staff Onik Gasparyan submitted his resignation, said MP Taguhi Tovmasyan in a conversation with journalists. She recalled that this was published in the media, and the Ministry of Defense did not deny it.
“According to information, the government urged Onik Gasparyan to continue working to prevent shocks in the army. What happened that a person was resigning in November and it was not accepted, but now a demand is being made?” said the MP.
According to her, certain events have taken place that are not available to the public. Taguhi Tovmasyan also noted, “I still know that Onik Gasparyan is a decent military officer, a professional who has risen through all ranks, a ‘military through and through.’ What happened that this person became undesirable? I do not have an answer to that question. Let the answer to that question be voiced, so we can understand whether we want him to leave due to stubbornness or if there is a valid reason.”
Regarding the proposal of Edmon Marukyan, the head of the ‘Enlightened Armenia’ faction, Tovmasyan said that it is one of the solutions to the issue.
“That is a logical solution. It is an acceptable and discussable option. It is a resolution of the situation,” the legislative representative noted.
