Ara Saghatelyan's Pretrial Hearing Concludes; Court Enters Deliberation Room
The pretrial hearing concerning the arrest of Ara Saghatelyan, the former head of the Armenian Parliament's staff, has concluded at the Yerevan General Jurisdiction Court, presided over by Judge Armine Meliksetyan. The discussion was held regarding the defense's appeal against the arrest decision and the investigator’s motion to choose detention as a preventive measure. This was reported to NEWS.am by Saghatelyan's lawyer, Hakob Yenokyan.
He noted that the announcement of the judicial act's decision has not yet occurred.
It is noteworthy that the National Security Service has arrested Ara Saghatelyan, co-founder of “Kyaryak Media” Karen Bekaryan, Manager of the “International Center for the Development of Parliamentarism” NGO Mher Avagyan, and citizen Aram Sargsyan.
According to the court's decision, Aram Sargsyan has been detained today. They were arrested under the Armenian Criminal Code articles 226 (inciting national, racial, or religious hostility by an organized group), 226.2 (public calls for violence by an organized group, justifying or promoting violence publicly), and 307.4 (violating publication or dissemination regulations during a state of martial law).
