Few Noticed What Was Written on Those Defaced Sections: Blogger Aram Gevorgyan

In Yerevan, the memorial stone dedicated to the memory of the Armenian and Jewish genocides has been subjected to desecration multiple times. A similar incident occurred in 2010. On both occasions, only the section related to the Jewish Holocaust was vandalized. Yesterday, few noticed what was written on those defaced parts. It listed the names of Israeli companies and weaponry that the Azerbaijani side used against Armenians during the recent war over Artsakh. Throughout this war, Israel did not cease its arms supply to Azerbaijan.

The inscription on the memorial was written in paint and included Lora (an Israeli-made ballistic missile, available only in the arsenals of Israel and Azerbaijan), Elbit (Elbit Systems is the Israeli company producing various weapons, including reconnaissance drones like the Elbit Hermes 900), Harop (an Israeli-made reconnaissance and strike UAV, which was also used during the April War), Sandcat (an Israeli-made armored combat vehicle), Hermes, which I mentioned earlier, and Orbiter, another Israeli-made reconnaissance UAV.

On the other side of the memorial, it was written in English: “Your hands are in blood.” Personally, I do not endorse the struggle against monuments, statues, and graves, as they cannot answer back. However, this step, albeit painful, was expected after the recent war. During the war, Israeli Armenians protested against Israel's policies, and Armenia recalled its ambassador for consultations, only to send them back without much fuss. The issue of continuously selling arms to Azerbaijan remains unresolved. So if another monument is defaced tomorrow, look not for the vandal but the fault of the state.
