It Cannot Be Excluded That It Was the Azerbaijanis Who Fired. "Hayastani Hanrapetutyun"
"Hayastani Hanrapetutyun" newspaper writes: The events that took place in the area of Jarakent on the road to Kapan confirm experts' predictions that the Azerbaijani-Turkish duo will resort to provocations in the border areas from Vardenis to Meghri.
Azerbaijani border forces had first blocked the road leading from the village of Jarakent, and then deployed a border post near the road to Kapan. They justified their action by stating that Armenians had fired upon a sign that read 'Welcome to Azerbaijan.'
Local residents insist that they would not have taken such an action, and they do not rule out that it was, in fact, the Azerbaijanis who may have fired, possibly with the aim of advancing the border post. After the bloody war, it is unacceptable to station military units of the conflicting parties in such close proximity to each other. A solution must be found: neutral zones should be established in the border area of over 500 km between Vardenis and Meghri.
