When Will the COVID-19 Vaccine Be Delivered to Armenia and Which Age Groups Will It Target?
The Armenian Ministry of Health hopes that by spring, the country will be able to acquire the COVID-19 vaccine; however, it is still unclear where it will come from. This was stated by Alina Nikoghosyan, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Health, in an interview with 24news.
She emphasized that Armenia has joined the international platform 'COVAX Facility', where vaccines produced by all countries will be registered after final clinical trials.
"The vaccine will be acquired for the 10% of the population that is in the at-risk group," said Nikoghosyan.
The delivery of the first batch of the vaccine (covering 3% of the population) is expected in 2021, following the licensing of safe and effective vaccines and permission for their use, as soon as possible.
