Armenian Defense Ministry Holds High Confidence in Azerbaijan and Considers Agreements Reliable: Abrahamyan
The short interview given by Defense Minister Vagharshak Harutyunyan to 'Zinuzh Media' was weak, unconvincing, and content-wise filled with numerous issues. This was stated by Tigran Abrahamyan, the head of the 'Henarqet' analytical center, on his Facebook page.
“There was nothing about the most important matters. I wish to draw your attention to only one statement. Referring to the section of the Goris-Kapan highway that has security issues and the work being done there, the defense minister says, 'The agreements reached allow us to state that those sections are secured better.' This means that the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia, referencing the agreement with Azerbaijan, considers that the security provision of those border areas is better.
Thus, the Republic of Armenia and one of its key officials, the defense minister, have great confidence in Azerbaijan and consider the agreement reached with them to be reliable and improved. Perhaps just as the Prime Minister of Armenia showered warm words on the Prime Minister of Azerbaijan after May 2018, spreading optimism about their conversations with the Azerbaijani president and the agreements reached.
And as for what the results of that were, unfortunately, we have all seen. After all this, the interview with the Armenian Defense Minister and the statements made in it raise serious concerns,” he wrote.
