Some Armenian prisoners have had the opportunity to call their family members
Some individuals held captive in Azerbaijan have been given the opportunity to call their family members. In a conversation with Armenpress, the representative for prisoners of war at the European Court of Human Rights, human rights defender Artak Zeynalanyan, spoke about the results of urgent measures taken against Azerbaijan by the court.
"Of course, this also contributes to taking measures towards the exchange of prisoners. These are initial complaints, urgent and immediate measures that precede the main complaints. We will present a separate application regarding cases of torture and violence against prisoners," Zeynalanyan stated.
He also added that a press release will be issued soon, summarizing the results of the Court's decisions regarding prisoners.
During the large-scale war initiated by Azerbaijan against Artsakh, the European Court of Human Rights had granted the requests of defenders regarding the protection of the rights of military personnel and detained civilians and decided to apply urgent measures. The European Court demanded documented information from the Azerbaijani government regarding the facts of their capture, the places of their detention, the conditions of detention, and medical care.
