Deadline for Issuing Old-Model Passports Extended to January 1, 2022
The deadline for issuing old-model passports in Armenia will be extended until January 1, 2022. The corresponding bill has been discussed and received a positive conclusion from the permanent commission on legal affairs of the National Assembly.
The main speaker, Deputy Chief of Police Ara Fidanian, reported that the contract with the Polish company, which served the biometric passport and identification card system and supplied blanks, expired on January 1, 2017. However, there is no contract signed with a new supplier. Therefore, extending the deadline for issuing old-model passports will ensure a smooth process for providing citizens with identification documents until a contract is signed with the new supplier and the system is fully operational.
