The Terrorist Threat Created by Azerbaijan and Turkey Has Not Disappeared, Says MP at PACE
Member of the National Assembly from the "My Step" faction Tatevik Hayrapetyan wrote on her Facebook page: "Today's agenda of the PACE "Committee on Migration, Refugees and Displaced Persons" also included a discussion on the humanitarian aspect of the Nagorno-Karabakh war. As a reporter from Armenia, I noted: Dear colleagues, first of all, I want to emphasize that the Azerbaijani side is artificially delaying the issue of the return of prisoners of war and hostages. In the meantime, the Azerbaijani side continues to spread videos on social media where ethnic Armenian prisoners of war and hostages are tortured and humiliated. This practice is a gross violation of the Geneva Conventions and must be properly addressed.
At the same time, I find it necessary to emphasize that the Azerbaijani side continues to damage the Christian heritage. In particular, the churches in Shushi have been subjected to vandalism. Moreover, the falsification of history continues at the level of the Azerbaijani president, where attempts are made to present Armenian Christian churches as Albanian. This is also an unacceptable practice.
I would also like to add that, as a result of the Azerbaijani aggression supported by Turkey, tens of thousands of Armenians have been forced to leave their homes in Artsakh. Currently, some of them have returned, while others have not yet, as their homes and infrastructure have been damaged. Furthermore, some have been deprived of the opportunity to return to their homes due to Azerbaijani aggression.
In conclusion, I would like to note that, just as in the past, there are terrorists in the region, and the terrorist threat created by Azerbaijan and Turkey has not disappeared. All these issues relate to humanitarian problems and the security of the civilian population, and therefore deserve proper attention."
