Children in High-Risk Groups Will Continue Remote Learning, Says Armenian Ministry of Education
According to a statement from the Armenian Ministry of Education and Science, schools will transition to in-person learning starting December 7. However, children in high-risk groups will continue with remote learning through centralized online education.
Who is considered part of the high-risk group in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic? High-risk children are those who are either infected with COVID-19 or have a family member infected with the virus; those who have had direct contact with an infected person; or those experiencing high fever and are advised to self-isolate.
Who can participate in remote classes in general? According to point 8 of the regulations for organizing remote education in general educational institutions, remote learning can be organized to ensure continuity of education under the following circumstances: if the institution lacks a specialist for the relevant subject until the vacant teacher's position is filled through competition, during emergencies and force majeure situations (adverse weather conditions, outbreak of acute infectious diseases, natural disasters, etc.); for children temporarily residing with parents (legal representatives) who are engaged in diplomatic work or are abroad, if their right to education is not being realized in that country; for children who require long-term medical treatment making in-person education impossible; for children who participate in subject-specific or sports international Olympiads or competitions and frequently leave the country; and for individuals who must participate in external final examinations aimed at obtaining basic or general secondary education certificates.
Additionally, remote learning is also available for children of families living abroad, as well as those who wish to return to the Republic of Armenia and intend to master basic programs through supplementary education to enroll in general education.
