The OSCE Minsk Group Must Participate in Resolving Issues in Nagorno-Karabakh: Lavrov
Russia hopes that the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group will join in addressing humanitarian tasks in Nagorno-Karabakh based on the trilateral agreements reached on November 9. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
“We appreciate that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev consistently emphasizes the implementation of the reconciliation issue in the region, which we firmly believe is the essence of all further work, if we think solely about people, rather than any other interests,” Lavrov stated during a meeting with the Azerbaijani president.
The Russian Foreign Minister highlighted the necessity of involving international organizations in the resolution of humanitarian issues in Nagorno-Karabakh.
“Through our peacekeepers, we are actively coordinating the resolution of humanitarian tasks with our Azerbaijani partners, as well as the participation of the Armenian side, for the benefit of the returning population. This includes the restoration of civil infrastructure and the organization of all necessary communications for transportation and economic unblocking. And we certainly hope that the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, who have been leading the political process alongside Russia for many years, will join in solving these tasks, taking into account the agreements reached on November 9,” said the Russian Foreign Minister.
