Naira Zohrabyan and Gevorg Gorgisyan Used Inappropriate Words and Phrases
The Human Rights Defender of Armenia, Arman Tatoyan, wrote on his Facebook page: "Inappropriate words and phrases were used in the speeches of Naira Zohrabyan, the Chair of the Standing Committee on Human Rights and Public Affairs of the National Assembly, and in an interview with National Assembly Deputy Gevorg Gorgisyan during today’s gathering, which has been circulating on the internet. Specifically, both speakers used terms related to 'blood', 'suppressing protests with violence', 'clashes', and other expressions that imply possible developments.
In both cases, the individuals involved are members of the National Assembly, holding high public positions. Such phenomena are condemnable in both instances. We must eliminate and completely remove such expressions from public discourse and discussions, regardless of political or other types of views. These are words and phrases that create tension.
Whenever speaking or expressing an opinion, it is essential to consider all potential subtexts and metaphorical meanings of the words or expressions used. This is particularly important in these responsible and sensitive situations. All public figures should take this into account, and state or other public officials must recognize that these prohibitions are an obligatory part of their legal status."
